In an effort to prevent acne, take care to wash items that come in contact with your skin, such as towels, washcloths and bedding. These items can harbor bacteria which are harmful to your skin. Making sure to change your clothing on a regular basis will also help to keep that bacteria away from your skin and prevent acne from occurring.

Are you aware that using a cell phone can result in pimples? Cellphones take the oils it has picked up from your face and hair and transfers them back and forth every time you use your phone. Try cleaning the phone with a cotton ball dampened with alcohol in order to keep it away from these oils. When you are using your cell phone do not let it touch your face. This helps prevent any dirt or oil on the phone from touching your face.

Tea tree oil can prevent acne from forming when applied to acne-prone areas. Tea tree oil provides a non-trying way to eliminate oil from backing up in your pores.

As a test, only use water to wash your face for two weeks, and don't wear any cosmetics to see if this has a positive effect on your skin. Makeup can exacerbate or even cause acne breakouts. Many of these products are full of chemicals that can irritate and damage the skin, making it more susceptible to acne bacteria.

To improve the skin, avoid oil-based makeup. Makeup that is oil-based can clog your pores. Using this kind of makeup can contribute to acne breakouts. Read all "oil-free" product labels very carefully to ensure that they really are this way. These sorts of products are synthetics and can cause you to breakout.
